About this video
I'm back in the USA after three incredible months abroad in Colombia! I realize I said super excited like ten times in this video. My apologies, I'm just, super excited... I am spending the month at home in Maryland before moving back to the home of kale smoothies, Brooklyn, New York. I'm pumped to head back to BK, but I'm definitely nervous / stressed about the transition from $1k/mo cost of living (Colombia) to more than $3K (Brooklyn)... But instead of letting this stress control me, I'm using it as a way to motivate me to get sh!t done. Stress is always going to be present. It's not about eliminating stress, that's borderline impossible. It's about dealing with stress in a way that benefits you... By perceiving stress as a CHALLENGE, instead of a THREAT, our performance increases dramatically. This has been confirmed by countless research studies. Instead of worrying about the future and whether I can pay my bills or not, I'm focusing on the present and what I can control right now. OTHER UPDATES: Next week I'm sitting down with and interviewing two awesome dudes: 1) Jelani Jenkins: NFL linebacker and 4th round draft pick to the Miami Dolphins. Jelani was a multiple-time high school All-American and played college ball at the University of Florida. He's only been in the league a few years, but is already making a name for himself and has established himself as a leader. We're going to dive into the mental side of Jelani's game and how he has used that to get where he is today. 2) Mike Wallace: Mike played college football at Penn State before a career-ending injury. He is a dynamic and talented individual who is on the rise as a performer and hip hop artist. He has a diverse background and awesome journey which I'm excited to share with you all. Stay tuned :) --- Thanks for watching. My name is Matt Kohn - I'm a 24-year old adventurer, Crossfitter and web designer currently living in Medellín, Colombia. when we view stress as a threat our performance decreases but when we view stress as a challenge our performance increases so I am back in the USA greatest country in the world right right um Colombia amazing amazing life-changing experience uh as expected you know I could just go on and on about that I don't want to go
on too much uh right now but basically I'm back in Maryland where I grew up and I will be here uh through the end of the month uh I'm back visiting some family hanging out with the Bros I have a family wedding this weekend so I get to see uh all my family that'll be really fun really
cool some of you guys know my uncles and um my other relatives and and you guys know it's a good time but yeah back in the US and I'm going to be moving back to Brooklyn at the end of this month uh probably for the next two to 3 months at least or uh until I go broke
pretty much quitting my job moving to Columbia without much of a plan was one thing um and the cost of living was about $1,000 a month and going back to Brooklyn now the cost of living is easily $3,000 plus a month so it is definitely going to be a hustle definitely going to be a struggle and you
know I have to admit I'm I'm a bit stressed about it I'm a bit nervous but I'm kind of using that as a way to get done and using that as a kind of way to motivate me because you know stress is always going to be there and it's not a matter of trying to eliminate stress it's
a matter of dealing with stress the the right way I feel you wouldn't sit there and wish for 26 hours in a day or 27 hours in a day because that just isn't reality instead you would try to figure out how to be more productive with your time and that's kind of how I'm approaching this stress you
know it's always going to be a factor for the most part so it it really all boils down to how we perceive stress when we view stress as a threat our performance decreases but when we view stress as a challenge our performance increases so it really all comes down to how we perceive it and how we use
stress as a way to act and move forward you know I could sit here and worry all day long about whether I'm going to make enough money or not but that's not going to serve me well so um I'm just trying to focus on what I can do right now and how I can you know best set
myself up for Success down the road and I'm also super excited to get back to Brooklyn see all my friends and Crush some kale smoothies you know all that all that dirty hipster stuff that Brooklyn nights get up to but um I also have some really exciting stuff coming up uh for my website which I'm super pumped
about I don't want to give too much away yet but um next week I'm actually going to be sitting down with Miami Dolphins linebacker galani Jenkins he is a high school classmate of mine and he was a fourth round draft pick um he was a high school All-American he played football at University of Florida and and he's
really kind of established himself even though he's only a few years into the league as a leader and we're just really going to dive into uh his kind of mindset and and how he approaches his work ethic and and the offseason training and and all the things that are kind of below the surface you know we we
really only see the tip of the iceberg on TV when we watch these football games but there's so so much that goes into it and we're really just going to dive into um all of that and kind of just talk through the process of that jalani takes mentally also going to be sitting down with my good friend
Mike Wallace U Mike Wallace is an upand cominging hip-hop performer and artist and he is just a great all-around dude he's he's worked with some really uh impressive and inspiring people in the music industry and Beyond and uh we're also going to talk about his journey as well so I'm super excited about that so yeah that's all
