About this video

So it's Friday here in Medellín and I just wanted to do a bit of a weekly recap as some pretty cool things happened this week. On Tuesday I woke up to two messages from friends saying they each had someone in need of a website. I was able to close one of the deals (and get paid 50% up front), and am close to finalizing things with the other prospect. Additionally, someone I contacted a few weeks prior via Upwork (eLance) reached out saying they were in need of a designer as the one they hired fell through. Things are soon to be moving forward here as well. Problem was as soon as I ended up getting paid for the one project, I basically brushed it off and took little time to appreciate what had happened, getting right back to work. Now keep in mind that two weeks ago when I moved here I was essentially starting from scratch... and I just had gone from 0 to 3 potential clients overnight. I definitely should have taken more time to appreciate my good fortune... I'm currently reading a book about how mega-successful individuals manage their time (link below). One of the quotes that really struck me was this one: "There will always be more to do, and more than can be done." We are constantly in search of more. So much so that we often times forget to appreciate what's happening right in front of our faces - as I had just done. Reading this quote served as another reminder for me to take a step back and truly appreciate the present moment. This was incredibly rewarding and motivating. It proved the power of consistently working towards a goal as the investment of my time has slowly but surely begun to pay off. Now again, there will always be more to do, and more than can be done. The way that we can combat this fact is by determining our values, determining our priorities and then putting a plan of action into place. For me, my priority is generating more web design work, and I have daily and weekly action plans for achieving this goal. At the end of the day we'll never be able to accomplish everything we want to. But if we appreciate the journey and love the process, while being intentional with our daily actions, we'll be able to continually move closer and closer to achieving our goals. And damn it, when something good happens, take some time to appreciate that win and celebrate before moving on... so it is 2:30 on Friday in metene and I just wanted to kind of do like a quick weekly recap of some pretty cool things happened this week um on Tuesday I woke up to a few messages from friends uh who had people who needed websites done uh so I was able to close one of those and

bring them on as a client and and get paid 50% Upfront for um I'm also working on closing the other one and on top of that I I heard back from someone who I had contacted a few weeks on Elance and their designer ended up falling through so they were in need of someone else uh so I'm

I'm in conversations with them and it sounds like things will be moving forward so awesome stuff um on top of that I I was able to to finish three blog posts for Publications that I'm uh contributing to um so I'm excited about that as well but what I just kind of wanted to discuss was the need to

kind of take a step back and and contemplate and kind of you know add some perspective to things are going on because as I've mentioned in my other video I've been kind of a robot since I've been here I've been waking up working out working till lunch eating and then working throughout the afternoon and evening uh managing

to fit in some time for Spanish lessons um and also a little bit of sunburn here and there but um when I kind of got this project and I got paid for this project uh it happened and it and I was just kind of like okay what next what next and uh kind of looking back on it

it was I I think it's just so important for us to to take a step back and and really enjoy the the process because again when I first moved down here as I've mentioned um you know I was basically starting from scratch and overnight I was able to come across three potential three potential clients and that's awesome

and however when it happened right after it happened it was just kind of like okay boom that happened what's next what's next what's next and this is something that um you know I I I'm guilty of I'm sure many of us are guilty of but I I was also reading a book about um how very successful people

manage uh manage their time and one of the quotes that um I really really liked and I think was you know is directly related to this instance was um there will always be more to do and always more than can be done so that is such a powerful such a powerful quote because you know oftentimes we're always

so caught up in more and more and more and more and more and we rarely kind of take it take the time to take a step back and really appreciate you know the current moment the present moment that sort of thing so um again when this kind of happened with when I was able to get this client

and potentially uh I'm I'm close to closing these other two clients at first it was just kind of like I brushed it off but now that I've kind of taken a step back and and really done my best to appreciate that it it's really much more motivating and it's much more fulfilling for me because again um when

I moved down here I was starting from scratch and now I'm I'm slowly but surely making progress and it's it's very motivating again and I just thought that um that that reminder again the quote is there will always be more to do and always more than can be done um you know I think I think the way

to combat that is obviously we want to do more more more more but at the end of the day we're never going to be able to accomplish everything that we want to so it's it's really just a matter of figuring out what our values are what our priorities are and uh putting into place a plan around how

to accomplish those so for me right now my plan is to um generate more work and more web design clients and again when when these kind of little wins come up I really need to take take the time to appreciate them and and really really fall in love with the journey as corny as that sounds but there's

power in that because um when we're always kind of pushing and looking forward as instead of uh taking a step back and focusing on the present moment then you know we miss out on a lot of powerful uh feelings of positivity and and thankfulness and that sort of thing so um I just thought that that was a

cool little uh a quote to share with you guys and hopefully uh it resonated with some of you guys but anyways uh have an awesome weekend everyone and I'll catch you soon

Keep going
